Since April, postdoctoral researcher Johannes Bruder joined the Institute for Advanced Study on Media Cultures of Computer Simulation (MECS) at Leuphana University Lüneburg for a six months research fellowship.

At MECS, he will deepen his investigation into the colonization of trauma, altered cognition and (psycho)pathology in and through discourses and practices of future-oriented design. In particular, he will look at how potentially pathological cognitive states such as mind wandering and day dreaming are coded into machine learning algorithms to promote machinic creativity and how these technologies might change our understandings of human psychopathologies and cognitive labor.
